Entering Bell Schedule and Calendar information for 2025-26 - Reminder

As per Site Operations Bulletin No. 91, the deadline to input Bell Schedules and Calendar information into PowerSchool was February 21, 2025. As a reminder, all schools must enter their 2025-26 Bell Schedules and Calendar in PowerSchool. If your school is changing the number of Periods or Cycle Days for the 2025-26 school year, please submit a request to the IT Help Desk indicating the changes. IT will need to complete the appropriate changes before schools update the Bell Schedule names or enter the Calendar for the 2025-26 school year.

New Communication Tool for Schools

Effective Monday, August 14, 2023, a new communication tool will be available to schools. The new tool is named Unified Operations Communication and offers schools two-way communication with parents/guardians using text messages and emails. Messages sent to parents/guardians will be automatically translated into the parent’s preferred language and any responses from the parent/guardian back to school staff member(s) will be translated back into English. Parents and guardians do not need to sign in or download an application. All messages are sent directly as a text message or email to the contact information in PowerSchool. Changes for Student COVID-19 Vaccine

Under a vaccine mandate approved by the Board of Education, San Diego Unified will require students who are 16 and older as of November 1, 2021 to be fully vaccinated or have an exemption for the start of the next semester, January 24, 2022. Effective Monday, December 6, 2021, changes will be made in PowerSchool to support schools in identifying students with this mandated requirement and include a new alert and report for students exclusively meeting the age criterion.

This new feature in PowerSchool will allow parents to initiate a contract through the parent portal. Site-designated attendance staff and school administrators will be able to identify submissions from parents, and educators can add daily/weekly instruction or interaction and sign the contract online.

Students marked Unverified Absence (A) for all scheduled periods from August 30 through September 10 were No-Show Dropped. Any students without a schedule were also No-show Dropped. A total of 748 students were No-Show Dropped.

The new form will allow parents and students to indicate if they wish to be included in the district’s COVID-19 testing program. All parents/guardians are required to complete the form and indicate whether they choose to participate in COVID-19 testing, or not.
